Society for Development and Research is a non-governmental, non-profit and non-sectarian organization which is striving to educate and empower the neglected communities especially youth and women for sustainable development. It was established in the year 2007 under Societies Act 1861 with the collective efforts of young male and female friends from the fields of Human rights, health, education and cultural transformation. The founder members discussed and conducted regular meetings where they decided to create a platform through which improving socio-economic condition of marginalized people of society can take place. SDAR, since its inception, has been striving for poverty alleviation, preservation of cultural heritage, and promoting peace and pluralism in society through mobilizing human and physical resources, adopting community participatory approaches and other cross-cutting themes.

SDAR also aims to work on Cultural Heritage, Climate Justice, Education, Women empowerment, Youth empowerment, Disaster management, environmental justice, Human and Institutional Development in Sindh, Pakistan. It will build the capacity of youth and women and engage them in social activism, environment protection, Health Education, Peace and Conflict Management. It has intended to initiate 40% Service delivery and 60% Rights-based advocacy and research intervention on its thematic areas. These programs reflect to provide opportunities for raising the voice of voiceless segments of the society accordingly.

1.2 Mission Statement

Strengthening the capacity of deprived communities through providing appropriate rights and opportunities in development, promoting and protecting Human rights including youth and women, promoting cultural transformation and heritage for long-term development, educating about peace and pluralism to create a balanced society and improving people's participation in all social, political and economic spheres so they could have equal access to rights and social justice.

  • To strengthen youth leadership and participation for human rights, peace and co-existence in society
  • To enhance the capacities of women and girls activists/volunteers of community-based organizations through various programs of training to enable them to work efficiently for village development
  • To improve health status of rural communities especially women through providing primary health facilities at their doorsteps
  • To conduct research-based advocacy for access to social justice and protection
  • To improve water, sanitation and existing infrastructure of Health, Cultural and educational institutions
